This morning reading some news about Maurren Maggi, the brazilian gold medalist, and her wishes to compete again in London 2012, some comments on the news called my attention.
Somebody was arguing why she thank God for her gold medal … asking if God paid for the food, if God paid for the shoes, and so on … and people should trust in themselfs to do things instead of looking imaginary friends to really on.
When I read things like this, allways come to my mind some fragments of the bible that really shows that we should relly on God for things that we CAN’T do, things that we can do, we should.
Look at this situation, very used to this subject, when Jesus ask to remove the stone from the cave where Lazarus were buried.
John 11:41 Then they took away the stone [from the place] where the dead was laid. And Jesus lifted up [his] eyes, and said, Father, I thank thee that thou hast heard me.
11:42 And I knew that thou hearest me always: but because of the people which stand by I said [it], that they may believe that thou hast sent me.
11:43 And when he thus had spoken, he cried with a loud voice, Lazarus, come forth.
How come this “imaginary friend”, would tell us to remove the stone, as he could do it by itself ? How come an “imaginary friend” would ask a leader of thousands in the middle of a war to be strong and have good courage, instead of just crush his enemies ? as we see in Joshua 1.6
Be strong and of a good courage: for unto this people shalt thou divide for an inheritance the land, which I sware unto their fathers to give them.
God is not imaginary, people that says so, I believe are afraid to say that they have weakness, as everyone of us has, and as any person, tries to hide hers weakness by atacking other subjects, so they move everyones eyes to other direction, and their weakness stays hidden.
Be courageous ! accept that your imaginary friend is real, and It’s God.
